Emergency Escape Breathing Device (EEBD), Hood Type
A MED-approved hood-type escape breathing device that supplies 15 minutes of air for escaping smoke and toxic gas.
Description
Provides short-term respiratory protection so that crew can leave an area safely in the event of fire, smoke or a toxic gas leak. A core item of life-saving equipment carried in machinery spaces and accommodation under SOLAS. For escape only; not for entering hazardous areas or firefighting. The high-visibility yellow hood protects the wearer's view in smoke and goes on in a single movement. A medium-pressure hose connects the hood to a 3 litre air cylinder, giving at least 15 minutes of clean air. Cylinder, valve and hood wait ready for use in a quick-opening red PVC carrying bag.
